The players engage in a complex simulation where they can embody various factions, including Hong Kong, Tibet, Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Mongolia, Manchuria, Taiwan, or Cathaysian Rebels. Their mission is to establish Organizations across 269 territories within the Cathayan Continent with the aim of dismantling the Communist regime.

Conversely, players may opt to lead the Communist faction, striving to quell all opposition and advance the long-standing revolutionary agenda across land and sea.

This game presents a nuanced narrative of our contemporary world.

Set 400 years ago, the Aisin Giro House from Manchuria utilized feudal loyalty and military might to unify the four regions of the Cathayan Continent within a century. Through a strategy of divide and conquer, Aisin Giro intertwined the destinies of Tartaria’s grasslands, Turkestan’s deserts, Tibet’s snowfields, and China’s fertile farmlands into a singular entity known as the United Empires.

However, 110 years ago marked a turning point as Aisin Giro was overthrown in a military coup during the Year of the White Pig. In the absence of imperial authority, the four realms pursued independent paths.

Following four decades of intermittent conflicts, the Communists emerged victorious over China proper through their ‘United Front’ strategy, seeking to consolidate power by absorbing Aisin Giro’s former vassals and territories to create a new mega state: The People’s Republic.

The ensuing years witnessed the emergence of deep-seated animosities culminating in the Seventy Years’ War—a prolonged hybrid conflict between those striving for a cohesive republic and those advocating for their independent states.

In recent times, Communist governance devolved into heavy-handedness and mismanagement. The regime faced accusations of ethnic cleansing and military brutality, resulting in rampant corruption and exploitation throughout the region.

The Republic now exists as a shadow of its illustrious past; however, strategic minds are still sought to challenge the Communist authority while other global powers remain ambivalent.

Taiwan, as a vestige of Aisin Giro’s former territories, must navigate its relationship with the Communist regime. Despite constant provocations from across the strait, Taiwan maintains its vigilance and considers its stance carefully.

The island faces an intriguing dilemma: Should it seek safety through avoidance of confrontation with the Communists or learn from past missteps that facilitated their meteoric rise?

Though Taiwan has yet to reach a consensus on these critical decisions, it finds itself in an ongoing struggle.

In this simulation game called 'Reversed Front', players can select from among nine factions (Hong Kong, Tibet, Uyghurs, Kazakhs, Mongolia, Manchuria, Taiwan, Cathaysian Rebels, or Communists). Each faction presents unique strengths and weaknesses along with diverse headquarters options that influence strategic gameplay.

The core mechanic revolves around ‘Organization’, representing various mobilizations of personnel who embody anti-Communist forces within specific regions. Alternatively, these Organizations can symbolize Communist agents tasked with suppressing rebellions.

As the leader of a revolutionary faction, players must manage internal discord while securing foreign alliances. The goal is to form resistance Organizations and diminish Communist resources through both peaceful and confrontational strategies to accelerate the anticipated upheaval that will displace their regime.
